If the wood of the bench can be felt when you lie on your back, you should select another bench. The pressure put on your back by using the wrong bench will end up stressing your spine.

Aerobic exercises are the key to rock-hard abs. Your goal should be to complete between 30 and 45 minutes of intense cardio thrice weekly; include weight training either two or three days of every week. You should always work out your body, but only do abs every other training session.
